Not every threat to your faith comes with fangs and flames, some come cloaked in peace, light, and “wellness.” In this part of our Evil in Disguise series, we expose how spiritual counterfeits have subtly infiltrated Christian spaces, distorting truth and inviting compromise.

1. What Are These Counterfeits?

These belief systems may look harmless, even helpful, but they are rooted in deception:

●      Pantheism – teaches that God is everything, denying the Creator/creation distinction.

●      New Age spirituality – blends energies, crystals, and self-enlightenment with false gods.

●      Freemasonry – promotes morality but obscures the exclusive truth of Christ.

●      Yoga & Mindfulness (as religious practice) – often tied to Hindu worship, not just exercise.

Behind each is an invitation to spiritual openness that opposes the Gospel.

2. Why They Are Dangerous

●      These “isms” introduce counterfeit spiritual authority.

●      They dilute the exclusive claims of Jesus as the only way (John 14:6).

●      They desensitize believers, blending truth with subtle deception.

●      They can become gateways to demonic influence, even when packaged as wellness.

Be Separate, Stay Sharp

“Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good.” – Romans 12:9

●      Examine your practices: Are they rooted in Christ or culture?

●      Don’t Christianize what God calls detestable.

●      Stay anchored in the Word. Not every light is from God.

Walk It Out

  • What spiritual practices have you accepted without discernment?

  • Are there things you’ve renamed or justified to “feel” more acceptable?

  • Ask the Holy Spirit to purify your spiritual life and close every door to the counterfeit.
