It’s Not Extreme, It’s Obedience

We’re at the end of our series “Evil in Disguise” and one thing has stood out every week without fail. Our walk with God will always involve saying “no” to certain things, because discipleship means choosing Him above everything else. The last few weeks have stretched us to let go of habits, attitudes, and compromises that dim our light, but this isn’t about being radical for the sake of it. It’s about being ambassadors who reflect the One we represent.
Why Denial Is Part of the Call
● It’s the Way of Discipleship: Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily” (Luke 9:23). Saying no to some things is simply part of following Him.
● It Shapes Our Identity: Every act of obedience reminds us that we don’t belong to the world but to Christ, and our lives are meant to point others to Him.
● It’s Rooted in Love, Not Rules: We give up lesser things because we’ve tasted something greater, the love and light of God that satisfies our souls. His commands are not burdensome, but actually lead to the true freedom we long for.

Walk It Out
● What is one thing God has called you to lay down recently?
● How has your “yes” to Him shaped your identity as an ambassador?
Reflect on John 15:19 this week as a reminder that being set apart is part of your calling.
