We’re nearing the end of our Evil in Disguise series, where we’ve been reminded that walking with God means surrendering certain things. This is part and parcel of being a follower of Christ. Over the last few weeks, we’ve been challenged to deny what draws us away from Him, but this isn’t an extreme or radical version of the Christian life. Sacrifice of our desires is simply the life we’ve been called to as His disciples and ambassadors. To love God is to walk in His light, and that means choosing Him over the shadows every time.
Why We Love the Light
● God Is Our Source: “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). Walking in His light keeps us connected to His truth and presence.
● Light Reveals What’s Real: Darkness hides, but light exposes what is true and life-giving. We choose it because we want clarity, not confusion.
● Love Shapes Our Choices: We say no to darkness not out of fear, but because our hearts are loyal to the One we love. Love transforms our desires.
● The Light Leads to Freedom: God’s light sets us free from the lies and bondage of sin. We follow the light because it’s where our freedom is.

Walk It Out
● Where in your life do you sense God inviting you to step more fully into His light – to stop hiding, pretending or denying good in favour of darkness?
● What is one action you can take today that reflects your love for Him?
● This week, meditate on John 3:19–21 to remind yourself why you choose the light.
